  1. Treo headland, Vinh Kim, Vinh Linh
Treo headland is located in Vinh Kim commune, Vinh Linh district. This is considered as the most interesting place in Quang Tri for backpacking tourism and or camping activities because of its beautiful terrain. This area has a long white sand and a fresh blue water for swimming. In addition, nature offers a small jungle, a long basalt strip along coastline built by time and sea breeze, which is free for your exploration. And the most important point of this place is a small land jutted out to sea where many people choose for check-in and “virtual living”...
Treo headland is considered as Ly Son on the mainland of Quang Tri. To get there, you start from Dong Ha and turn right at the Petrol Station in Song intersection – Cam Hieu, go along Trans-Asia road to Cua Viet beach and Cua Tung beach. Then you keep moving along the road to Vinh Moc tunnel until meet a T-junction. Turning left onto the concrete road and continuing about 1km, there is a small road at the turning point on the right. Going along this road about 1km until meet a small trail under the forest. The end of the road is your destination. (You should pay attention to find this small road under the forest, and be careful since it’s so wet and slippery). You can discover Treo headland within a day or stay there for camping, burning fire or grilling meat… and welcoming dawn in the sea.

  1. Gio An ancient well system, Gio Linh
Gio An ancient well is the system of water supply for living and cultivation, dated back 5000 years ago and created by Cham people. This ancient well system is located in Gio An commune, Gio Linh, Quang Tri including 14 ancient wells: Duoi, Bung, Coi, Tep, Ong, Ba, Gai – Hao Son hamlet; Trang, Dao – An Nha hamlet; Gai 1, Gai 2, Nay – An Huong hamlet; Mang – Long Son hamlet,; Pheo - Tan Van hamlet. Gio An ancient well system has 3 separated ones: Mang, Ao and Bi. The local people said that the well water is clear and sweet, warm in the winter and cool in the summer. It is used daily by many people. This ancient well system is located at the base of the basaltic hills, built by the stone docking technique and embankment to exploit the underground water. Up to now, how dry the weather is, the water in Gio An ancient well system is inexhaustible, still very fresh and cool. The building technique of these wells are also so perfect, suitable for terraced fields in Gio An. To reach this system, from Dong Ha city, you move along national highway 1A through Gio Linh town, turng left and follow the provincial road 75 to Gio An commune and ask for the way to Hao Son village. Wells are distributed in this area.

Coming here on sunny days, please ask the local people to be immersed in the cool water of this ancient well system and do not forget to buy Liet (water cress) which is a vegetable grown on the stone as a speciality gift of this place.
  1. Dakrong cave, Dakrong
To discover the Dakrong cave from Dong Ha, you go along the national road 9 to the Dakrong suspension bridge, turn left and keep moving about 10km, there are a signboard Dakrong Nature Reserve and a small concrete road on the right. You ask the forest rangers who are working there to explore the cave because the site is located in the Nature Reserve and is under the management of the Forest Protection Station.
Dakrong cave consists of two ones: dry and water caves. These two caves are not adjacent, so you might take time to find them. It is more convenient to ask the forest rangers for help, they will guide very cheerfully and enthusiastically. The entrances of both caves are hidden behind the trees and vines, it is very hard and slippery, so you need to wear high grip sole safety shoes.

Since the cave is still very wild and discovered by few people, it still maintains its mystery. Stepping inside, the cave is another world, the cool of stones radiates out to make you feel chilled, entering deeper, the stone columns, mounds, stalactites... appear everywhere in the floor, on the ceiling, on the wall and still keep intact the natural shapes which created in thousands of years, twinkled beautifully under the flashlight.
4. Huong Linh wind power plant, Huong Hoa
Located in Huong Linh commune, Huong Hoa district, the wind power system is composed of more than 10 wind turbines.           Coming closely and imaging that you are Don Quixote riding a horse to find the windmill in Cervantes’ story. When approaching, you must be overwhelmed by the size of the wind turbine and admire the man who made this. On the route, you will be greeted with waving hands and “hello” by the ethnic minority children; you should prepare some candies or balloons for them. They will be very happy.

  1. Lao Bao prairie, Huong Hoa
Reading the title above, you might be surprised and asked yourself: Does Quang Tri have prairie? That is the truth, we don’t know its name, just temporarily called it Lao Bao prairie since it is located in the route from Huong Phung to Lao Bao. This is a narrow road with many curves and high slopes through the ethnic minority group’s village, connecting Huong Phung commue to Lao Bao town. On that road, you will pass through not only the coffee garden, the overhead reeds but also flat land that we call prairie. The national road 9 and Ho Chi Minh West road  will take you to Huong Phung market, moving more 50km, then turn left on a small path to reach Huong Phung primary school and this road will take you to Lao Bao prairie.

From the upper side, Lao Bao border town is so tiny and it is so surprised - there is a heart-shaped lake in the middle of the small town. How the town peaceful and lovely is.
If you have the opportunity to travel and to be travelled, you shouldn’t refuse. Let's go to discover, to know that this life is so short but the country is long and wide. Travel to love and to respect every simple thing around us.
